HERSHBERGER, Charles Edward

Charles E. Hershberger, 76, a resident of the Veedersburg community most of his life, died at the home of a son, Dorsey Hershberger, near Tangier, Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. He had made his home with his son for some time. Mr. Hershberger apparently had been in his usual health during the early part of the day. His daughter in law found him slumped over in a rocking chair about 5 o'clock and the county coroner, who was called, said he was a victim of a heat attack. Born near Veedersburg on July 7 1866, he was the son of Elijah and Mary Hartley Hershberger. He was married Sept 11 1889 to Miss Alice Butts, whose death occurred on May 5 1940. The survivors include four sons, Dorsey at whose home he died; Laurel of New Richmond; Monte of Kingman and Merle of Grover Hill, Ohio. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Veedersburg United Brethren church with Rev. Charles E. Howard in charge. Burial was made in the Rockfield cemetery with Fishero and Son in charge - Betty D :)
